Cotton is grown in 17 Southern U.S. states and processed through several steps before becoming clothing like jeans. Cotton bolls are harvested from plants and compressed into modules, then ginned to separate fibers from seeds. Fibers are spun into yarn, dyed and woven into cloth, while seeds are pressed for oil. The cotton fibers eventually get transformed into finished products like jeans after moving through cotton gins, textile mills, and clothing producers.
